Who we are

Boynings Consulting Limited is a dedicated XML consultancy providing strategic advice, developing policies and standards and helping ensure successful implementation for Government and the private sector. We are experts in the standards used by Governments, specifically the UK Government, and have contributed to the development of many of these standards on behalf of the Government and standards bodies such as OASIS. As well as strategy, we often provide advice for individual projects, contribute to data standards and the resulting XML schemas and provide training so that internal staff can continue the work.

e-GIF Expert

On 11 May 2005, Paul Spencer, Director of Boynings Consulting, became the first person to be certified as an Expert Practitioner for the e-Government Interoperability Framework by the e-GIF Accreditation Authority. If you require e-GIF expertise, or need to demonstrate this expertise to a client in the public sector, there is no better place to come - and that's official!

Experience

Paul Spencer is supported by a variety of skilled individual associates and by relationships with companies such as Security and Standards. He advises several Government departments in the UK and overseas. He has written and co-written several books on XML and speaks on XML and e-Government at international conferences.

Training

Paul Spencer provides training on the use of XML, concentrating specifically on the implementation of XML within Government. This training is aimed at Government departments, devolved authorities, agencies, local authorities and suppliers to Government and can be tailored to specific needs. In this training, Paul speaks from experience since he contributed to many of the standards being used and advised the Government Gateway development team on its use of XML. The course "Hands-on XML Within the e-GIF" has been accredited by the e-GIF Accreditation Authority and so attendance helps individuals towards e-GIF certification.

Recent work

Our most recent work has been in two main areas. Having been core to the development of the OASIS Election Markup Language, we are involved in the application of this to the UK Co-ordinated Online Record of Electors project. We are also developing the upgrade of EML from version 4 to version 5. Our other main area of work has been the development and implementation of data standards in the education sector.
